Small business digital marketing

Are you a small business owner wondering how you should go about digital marketing?

It makes sense. Small businesses have a lot to gain from digital marketing.

It can help you reach new customers, build brand awareness, and increase sales. However, many small business owners are unsure where to start when it comes to digital marketing. The options seem endless. There are websites, social media marketing, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, blogs, affiliate marketing, CRM, analytics, and way more. Things get even more fragmented from here. Social media marketing can include Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, etcetera. In this blog post, we’ll cover some of the social media marketing basics that we focus on with our clients.

First, it’s important to know your audience. Who are your customers? What are their needs and interests? Where is your audience geographically located? What social media platforms does your target audience use? Once you know your audience, you can tailor your marketing messages to them. We take all this into account and typically focus on the top two social media platforms that your audience engages with.

Next, emphasize your value proposition. What makes your business unique? Why should customers choose you over your competitors? Make sure your value proposition is clear in all your marketing messages.

Once you figure out what social media platforms your audience is engaged with, you can invest more time and resources into it.

At this point you may be wondering how much does social media marketing cost. The great news is that there are no fees to establish social media accounts. The real “cost” is opportunity cost, meaning your valuable time. We spend approximately 4-6 hours per month on our client’s social media. Since we do this all day every day, we are very efficient. Ask yourself how long it would take you to generate customized content, craft an engaging social media post with a nice image, and then post it to your social media account. As a small business owner, you are responsible for what seems like one thousand different things. One option of course is to hire a social media marketing agency. Another is to buy static content that any other person in your industry can also buy. We don’t suggest buying static content like pre-written social media posts because they are not unique to your business and therefore add no value. Also, your competitors may have purchased the exact same content.

These are just a few things to consider when you are getting started with your small business digital marketing.
