Social Proof on Social Media

You may have heard the term “Social Proof” recently and wondered what it means.

Social proof is when people follow what others do or say. It helps people make decisions when they are not sure what to do. For example, if you see a lot of people buying a product, you might think it is a good product and buy it too. Or, if you see a lot of positive reviews for a service, you might think it is a reliable service and hire it too.

Social media is one of the first places potential clients look when they are searching for social proof! That is why it’s so important for small business owners, realtors, attorneys, and others to have established social media platforms and a Google My Business page.

People trust the recommendations of people who are like them. In general, people say that they are more likely to buy something if their friends or family recommend it. Also, most shoppers these days read at least one review before buying something.

Social proof can help you show that you are an expert, a leader, and a trustworthy person in your business.

Here are some various types of social proof.

  • Testimonials and reviews: These are the comments from happy customers or clients who have used your product or service. Post these on your social media platforms.

  • Case studies: These are the stories of how your product or service helped your customers or clients solve a problem or reach a goal. You can write them as blog posts, videos or podcasts and post these to your social media accounts.

  • User-generated content: This is when your customers or clients create and share content about your product or service, such as pictures, videos, or testimonials. User-generated content can help you increase your brand awareness, engagement, and loyalty.

Social proof is a powerful tool that can help you grow your business. Once your social media platforms are established, start using different types of social proof, such as testimonials, case studies and user-generated content to provide the social proof that your future clients are looking for!
